چکیده

Software Process Simulation Modeling (SPSM) research has increased in the past two decades, especially since the first ProSim Workshop held in 1998. Our research aims to systematically assess how SPSM has evolved during the past 10 years in particular whether the purposes for SPSM, the simulation paradigms, tools, research topics, and the model scopes and outputs have changed. We performed a systematic literature review of the SPSM research in two subsequent stages, and identified 156 relevant studies in four categories. This paper reports the review process of the second stage and the preliminary results by aggregating studies from the two stages. Although the load of SPSM studies was dominated in ProSim/ICSP community, the outside research presented more diversity in some aspects. We also perceived an immediate need for refining and updating the reasons and the classification scheme for SPSM introduced by Kellner, Madachy and Raffo (KMR).

On Scoping Stakeholders and Artifacts in Software Process

Stakeholders and artifacts have been applied in software engineering domain for decades, but they are rarely considered in software process modeling and simulation. Inspired by the Workshop of Modeling Systems and Software Engineering Processes in 2008 at University of Southern California and our previous studies on integrating stakeholders’ perspectives into software process modeling, we under...

A Systematic Methodology for Developing Discrete Event Simulation Models of Software Development Processes

So far there have been several efforts for developing software process simulators. However, the approaches for developing the simulators seem to have been adhoc and no systematic methodology exists. Since modeling and simulation in support of software development should become more popular (and there are signs that it does), there is a need for migrating modeling from craft to engineering. This...

Simulation and modeling of macro and micro components produced by powder injection molding: A review

During the recent years powder processing technologies have gained much attention due to the less energy consumption and recyclable powders. Manufacturing of complicated parts by the conventional powder metallurgy (PM) method is hard due to the uniaxial pressure, which leads to the low design flexibility. In order to prevail these constraints, powder injection molding (PIM) process, which inclu...

A systematic literature review on the industrial use of software process simulation

Context: Software process simulation modelling (SPSM) captures the dynamic behavior and uncertainty in the software process. Existing literature has conflicting claims about its practical usefulness: SPSM is useful and has an industrial impact; SPSM is useful and has no industrial impact yet; SPSM is not useful and has little potential for industry. Objective: To assess the conflicting standpoi...
